VanUk Vietnam Vietnam · Non Nuoc Beach - One of the World's Beautiful Beaches
Posted: 2010-05-03 04:32:50

Nuoc Beach gently slopes towards the calm, clear,
blue sea; the clarity of the water attracts
visitors who come to bathe and enjoy the seafood.
This fine sandy beach with sunshine all the year
round makes it suitable for tourism in all four
seasons.

Da Nang has a coastline of 30 kilometres long,
famous for many beautiful seashores stretching
from the north to the south such as My Khe, Thanh
Binh, Tien Sa, Son Tra and so on. Non Nuoc Beach
also pertains to Da Nang Sea and has been voted as
one of the most beautiful and attracting beaches
of the planet, 2005, according to Forbes, the
leading magazine of America. This beach has gentle
slope, mild waves, and purely blue sea water
during the four seasons. The unpolluted water
source here has attracted a number of tourists
coming to bathe, enjoy local special sea foods and
take a rest for weekends. The beach Non Nước is
also a place that exist precious and rare seaweeds
such as gracilarias "yellow thread" and glacilaria
"screw" that have high value of exporting.

With green water and white sand, Non Nuoc Beach
stretches five kilometers along the shore of Hoa
Hai Ward at the foot of Ngu Hanh Son (The Marble
Mountains). The beach is famous for its seaweed,
which reaches exportation standards. Many five-
star hotels were built in Non Nuoc to accommodate
the domestic and foreign tourists in the area.
Together with its feature of wave degree, climate,
weather and salinity, Non Nuoc Beach is suitable
for water sports, especially surfing. In 1993,
there took place an international champion with
the participation of nearly 40 athletes from many
countries around the world.

Along the beach, on the white sand is a forest of
age-old casuarinas which is shady, green and is
waving in the whistling wind. This is an ideal
place for resting and camping. When the darkness
falls and the moon rises, you can set yourself
free on smooth benches along the beach to listen
to melodious sounds of the waves and enjoy the
occult space.

The beach is managed by the Non Nuoc Tourism
Company that has three hotels with more than 100
rooms on the beach. They provide entertainment
services including photographs for souvenir,
handicraft shops, massage, restaurant, tennis and
some gymnastics. A chain of tourism resorts is
planned to cater for international tourists
including seaside hotels and restaurants,
especially an international standard golf court.

Besides convalescence and bathing, tourists to Non
Nuoc Beach can also combine their journeys with
traveling the relic Marble Mountains, which boast
some ancient pagodas and sacred monumental caves,
go around fine art stone handicraft villages right
at the foot of the Mountains or go boating on Co
Co River (Stork Neck River) to enjoy peacefulness
of the Marble Mountains.

VanUk Vietnam Vietnam · Bac Ha Market, feast for the eyes!
Posted: 2010-04-16 05:04:23, Edited: 2010-04-16 05:05:51

Being a minority ethnic people market, the town of
Bac Ha is famous for its Sunday market which is a
trading centre and meeting place for couples,
friends, and relatives every Sunday.
Beautiful products sold in Bac Ha Market

Every Sunday, Bac Ha hosts the biggest fair near
the mountainous highlands and the Chinese border.
It is the largest and most colourful market in the
area and attracts throngs of villagers from the
surrounding hill tribes. Some walk several hours
for the weekly opportunity to trade and barter
food, animals, clothes and household goods. 80km
from Sapa, Bac Ha Market is not only the place for
buying and selling, but also a place for cultural
and sentiment exchanging. On the market days,
right from the early morning, all paths and
mountain roads are full of people and horses
pouring to the market. People usually sit in
groups around a soup pan ("thang co") eating and
chatting.

Many different ethnic groups such as Flower
H'mong, Phu La, Black Dao, Tay and Nung minorities
gather to buy and sell local products that cannot
be found elsewhere. The market was very crowded,
local products for sale or barter are carried on
horseback. Besides the usual items like pigs,
cows, chickens, and ducks, Bac Ha Market sold
dogs. As dogs were available as cuts of meat, they
were also available live, right next to the live
pigs, chickens, and other livestock. There was a
brisk trade at the market for everything from
hand-embroidered skirts to all manner of 4-legged
animals. The “fresh” meat section is not for the
faint of heart and might steer more than a few
visitors in the direction of strict vegetarianism.

Though tourists were not in short supply, they
were not the focus. Most locals paid little
attention to them, rather choosing to focus on
their business and the short Sunday-sized window
of opportunity. Rounding the corner and pungent
fumes of alcohol accosted your senses of smell,
from corn whiskey, a Bac Ha specialty. The potent
moonshine is decanted by vendors from large white
plastic jugs to used bottled water containers. If
you doubt the ability of a vendor's hooch to peel
paint or light your senses on fire, you can try a
shot for free.

At the fair, adventurous gastronomes can try
“thang co” blood porridge, a popular dish of the
H’Mong and other local people. The Flower H’mong
minority is the most common here, and their
colourful dresses makes is a beautiful sight.

In conclusion, I would like to mention here the
comment by Mr. Ikuyo, a tourist from Tokyo
(Japan): “The trip to Bac Ha Market was amazing!
On the way, the scenery was beautiful and the
local people were so friendly. I will come back
again!”. Let’s once visit Bac Ha Market and you
will be able to experience a wide range of
different colorful ethnic minorities and more
interesting things of life in the mountains...

VanUk Cambodia Cambodia · Angkor Wat Travel Tips
Posted: 2010-03-29 01:09:46

Located six kilometers north of Siem Reap, Angkor
Wat is a massive three-tiered pyramid crowned by
five lotus-like towers rising 65 meters from
ground level. The temple's balance, its
composition and beauty makes the lost city of
Angkor one of the finest monuments in the world.
In 1992, Angkor Wat was declared as a World
Heritage Site by Unesco.
When to go?
The cool dry season is said to be the best time
for visits to Cambodia. But for temples
exploration, the wet season (from May until Oct)
is also a good time as the moats will be full and
the foliage lush, though being very soggy. In
addition, to maximize the effect it is suggested
that the first trip to Angkor Wat be made in
optimal lighting conditions, usually around one to
two hours in the afternoon when the sinking sun
lights up its west-facing main gate. Many tourists
also come just before dawn to see the first lights
bounce off the magnificent temple when the sun
peeps through the horizon. Sunrise at Angkor Wat
is also a great sight to witness.
Travel tips
Touring the temples is a hot and sweaty job, so
wear light, airy, covering clothing to protect
yourself from the sun and mosquitoes. The sun can
be intense so bring a hat, sunglasses and perhaps
sunscreen. Consider buying a traditional Khmer
scarf (krama) to keep the sun off your neck. Carry
a raincoat during the wet season, though you will
probably only need it in the afternoon. You should
have mosquito repellent for sunrise and sunset
hours. Wear practical shoes for climbing narrow
steps and walking on uneven surfaces.<B>

Located in the south-east Asia between Thailand
and Vietnam, Cambodia nowadays is
administered by the Royal Government of Cambodia
after an internationally supervised election in
1993 and totally safe to welcome tourists all over
the world return.

Cambodia is a beautiful country with two main
cities: the capital, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
National Museum in Phnom Penh, a bustling city
with fine colonial architecture,
is the best place to see examples of Khmer
sculpture. Siem Reap is primarily the base
from which to explore the majestic temples of
Angkor and Angkorian-era architecture.
In 1992, Angkor Wat was declared as a World
Heritage Site by Unesco.
When to go?
The best time to visit Cambodia is from December
to January when humidity is bearable, temperatures
are cooler and it's unlikely to rain. From early
February, temperatures start to rise until the
hottest month of April, when temperatures often
exceed 40°C (104°F). The wet season starts from
May until Oct, when the southwestern monsoon
brings rain and high humidity. Though being very
soggy, this period can also be a good time to
visit Angkor as the moats will be full and the
foliage lush - but steer clear of the northeast
regions during those months, as the going gets
pretty tough when the tracks are waterlogged.
What to do?
The temples of Angkor literally rise out of the
jungle and attract people to explore the
Angkorian-era architecture. The National Museum in
Phnom Penh, a bustling city with fine colonial
architecture, is the best place to see examples of
Khmer sculpture, especially the beautifully
depicted Hindu deities. Hill tribes around
Banlung, the unspoilt countryside around sleepy
Sen Monorom and Battambang are also worth seeing
for adventurers. For those looking for relaxation,
Sihanoukville with its lovely sandy beaches and
laid-back lifestyle is a promising destination.
