Ride the Subway in NYC. Nothing could be safer, more efficient, or affordable. Buy a Metro Pass first (at any station) before you begin to ride. It will save you a bundle and the card is easily used when going through the turnstiles. Maps are easily understood but if you make a mistake, just get out and catch another train the other way. A great place for people watching, but if you don't like the hustle and bump of crowds, then avoid morning and afternoon rush hour.
