 | Top 10 list: Places I want to visit
Posted: 2005-03-04 10:05:45, Edited: 2005-03-14 10:09:08The Companion thread to my Top 10 list of places I've been. This is a thread to mark the places you want to visit before you die.
My list:
1. Petra, Jordan. Every time I see pics I saw that I simply must see this place.
2. Peru: Macchu Pichu, Sacsahuaman and the rest of the Incan cities.
3. Taj Mahal. Based on pictures of this and my having been to the Blue Mosque, I'd say that these two buildings are the most beautiful buildings in the world.
ETA: Also the Red Fort in Delhi looks really cool. And then of course there's the food! yum!
4. Angkor Wat. There's something about this place that totally makes me want to go here.
5. Norwegian Fjords. The only cruise that interests me. I think this would be beautiful even if the waters are very rough up there.
6. Potala Palace, Lhasa, Tibet. Looks really cool from what I've seen.
7. Iceland. Having read some Icelandic sagas, I'd really like to visit here. Also, Reykjavik is completely heated by hot springs which seems so cool.
8. Dubrovnik and Split Croatia. The pics I've seen, especially of Dubrovnik. Wow.
9. Loire Valley, France. As much for the castles as the wine. I wouldn't say no to any trip involving looking at and going into castles (Wales, Ireland, England, Germany, etc).
10. Scotland. I really should see the home land of my father-in-law.
Honourable mention: Oporto, Portugal. I really like port! |

Egypt, where you walk beside 3,000 to 4,000 years of history.
Easter Island, aka Rapa Nui with the massive stone heads.
Tonga, with it's own stone monuments.
Yap, in Micronesia, just to see those massive stone coins.
Japan, aaaah Japan. The heart of technological advances...
The Maldives, flat mid ocean islands...
Eilat in Israel, and explore a bit more around the Middle East...
Sigh... I need more time to play. 
Turks and Caicos, mostly because of the talk that they want to be a part of Canada... |

1) Scotland - Highlands, Orkney Islands, and of course Loch Ness (going in August)
2) Galapagos Islands
3) Jordan - Petra
4) Peru - Macchu Pichu, Cuzco
5) Antarctica - just for an overnight experience
6) Nothern Canada, Arctic - to see the Northern Lights the right way
7) Egypt
8) China - Great Wall, Tibet, Mount Everest
9) Greece - Athens, Crete
10) Zimbabwe - Victoria Falls, Safari
Iceland, Norway, Ireland, Russia, and New Zealand are all close seconds... |

Yes off course these places are wonderful and you should visit and me too would like to visit.
But I wonder how did you skip the Costa Rica, it is the one of the best places for beach sports like stand up board sport, kayaking, surfing, snorkelling and mountain bike adventure. You have not experienced the Costa Rica Adventure . Also include it in your list and once visit it if you have time before you die. |

Spanish islands - Canaries and Balearics
Florence - everybody knows these symbols of Italian bloom and the tourist stream never exhausts.
